When it comes to spyware trojans, a virus is similar but has the additional power to replicate itself, causing damage to multiple computers, but a trojan virus and spyware often overlap, so we include them as the same thing. Like the wooden Trojan horse that the Greeks used to enter Troy, this spyware masquerades as a something harmless yet can compromise your computer. Your data may be copied, distributed or destroyed. Even when you think you have deleted it, it may only have changed its form and continues to hide in your computer.
How do I know if I have a Trojan?
It's almost impossible to tell if you have a trojan without running a specialized program. They are the silent killers that not only masquerade as innocent files, but they are able to change form on detection or removal attempt. But they are not unstoppable.
